EPNF

The Expert Panel on Nitrogen and Food is co-chaired by Henk Westhoek of the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL) and Christian Pallière of Fertilizers Europe (EFMA).

 

The Panel will investigate the effects of a lower human intake of plant and animal originated protein on N emissions and the societal cost for mitigation NH3 and greenhouse gas emissions. It also plans to investigate additional side‐benefits of dietary changes, compared with technical measures, including effects on land use, greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity. To do this, the panel requires members from a variety of disciplines, including expertise on nitrogen cycling and emissions, livestock and arable production systems, LCA-methodology, aquaculture and emissions.
